26 - 30 March : RYA Yachtmaster Theory Course

Advanced training for more experienced skippers building on the Day Skipper course. This course equips you to navigate safely on coastal and offshore passages.

This course will take your theory knowledge to the standard required for the Yachtmaster™ Coastal and Yachtmaster™ Offshore practical exams, concentrating on advanced navigation and meteorology skills.

As with the Day Skipper shorebased course, the RYA's specially designed chart plotter software will be used during the course to give you a realistic taste of modern electronic navigation. The course is taught over 40 hours with three exam papers.

Course Pre-requisites: Minimum of RYA Dayskipper Practical certificate or equivalent experience which will need to be proven via log book – Please note you will not be allowed to participate in this course without meeting the course prerequisites

Minimum Duration: 5 days

Timings: Sunday to Thursday from 9am till 6pm daily

Minimum Age: 18

Course topics include: position fixing, course shaping and plotting, tidal knowledge use of almanacs and admiralty publications, electronic position finding equipment, taking and interpreting forecasts, plotting weather systems, weather predictions using a barometer and by observation, collision regulations,customs and excise regulations for cruising abroad

The person engaging in the course must of adequate fitness to engage in sailing lessons.
Course fees are non-refundable and not transferable.
Course fees are lost if you cancel your course, and we are unable to find someone to take your place.
Any days of course if missed for whatever reason is non-refundable. Days of scheduled courses are not transferable to later scheduled courses. You will not be granted a certificate if you do not complete all days of the course.
The course will be held in the English Language only.
You must have the course pre-requisites. Failure to produce the correct certificate will enable us to remove you from the course without re-imbursement.
In the event of adverse weather conditions, or situations beyond our control, it may be necessary for us to postpone your booked session. Your lesson will be rescheduled as per availability.
Dubai Offshore Sailing Club has high standards of instruction and applies RYA guidelines on the issue of certificates. Certificates will not be issued if, in the opinion of the instructor, the student has not reached the necessary standard. The Chief Instructor’s decision is final.
